Booth‑Amos Secures a Hard‑Fought Podium in Assen
Racing Triumph Motorcycles 21st Apr 2026

Tom Booth-Amos and the PTR Triumph Factory Racing team returned to the podium this weekend as the British rider wrestled his way to third in a stunning comeback ride on Saturday. The number 69 Triumph Street Triple 765 RS rider backed up his first podium of the season with a fourth-place finish in race two today.

After a positive start on Friday, the 30-year-old looked set to take pole position, but a yellow flag at the end of Superpole left him unable to complete his final run, resulting in a second-row start on Saturday.

With rain looming, it was lights out for the first FIM Supersport World Championship race, with the Triumph rider settling into the leading pack. A frantic fight at the front of the field resulted in the #69 lining up a podium move into the famous Geert Timmer Chicane, but contact with Can Öncü forced the pair through the gravel.

Undeterred from the moment, Booth-Amos rejoined in sixth with two laps to go and pursued the podium battle once more. Muscling his way to fifth, and then to fourth, a stunning final chicane pass on the last lap saw him claim third but was outrun to the line and took the checkered flag in P4. However, a track limits penalty for Valentin Debise promoted the Triumph rider to third, securing his first visit to the podium in 2026.

Teammate Oli Bayliss delivered a gutsy ride from the back of the grid. After being penalised on Friday, the Australian podium finisher battled hard to ultimately cross the line in 18th place.

Starting Sunday’s second race from 11th, Booth-Amos got off to a tentative start after a deluge of rain hit the circuit moments before the race got underway. Settling into his rhythm whilst finding the grip around the patchy 4.5Km TT Circuit Assen, he began to work his way forward, setting the fastest lap in the process. Battling his way to fourth, he set his sights on a second visit to the podium this weekend, but a small issue, having just claimed third, saw him drop to sixth.

Unfazed, he pushed on with seven laps remaining, working his way back to fourth position. With the podium target in his sights once more, he lined up a move but a Red Flag due to an incident brought the race to an early conclusion, resulting in a fourth-place finish for the PTR Triumph Factory Racing rider.

Oli Bayliss endured a tough Sunday. A hectic start saw the Australian complete the opening lap in 19th before an unfortunate crash at the final chicane brought his race to an early end.

The PTR Triumph Factory Racing Team will return to action in Hungary on the weekend of May 01-03.

Tom Booth-Amos – PTR Triumph Factory Racing:

“I’m happy to be fast again this weekend which boosts my confidence going into the next few rounds. The feeling with the bike was good and what I needed to be fighting back at the front. The podium yesterday was great but, of course, a little bit disappointed that today’s race was cut short – but that’s racing and I hope everyone is okay. Now we look ahead to Balaton in a few weeks and continue this momentum.”

Oli Bayliss – PTR Triumph Factory Racing:

“It’s been a difficult weekend in Assen. We were chasing a feeling on Friday and then had a back of the grid penalty on Saturday for race one which made things difficult. The race today was better, the feeling with the bike was good but a small crash finished our Sunday race too early. I’m looking forward to one of my favourite rounds at Balaton in a few weeks.”
