Booth Amos Returns to Rostrum in Sunday Supersport Race at Cremona
Tom Booth-Amos made a sixth visit to the podium this year as the PTR Triumph Factory Racing rider flew to a third place finish in today’s second World Supersport race of the weekend at Cemona.
FIM Supersport World Championship returned to action this weekend as the middle-weight class made their second visit to Italy for Round 10 of the 2026 season. After missing Magny-Cours but fresh from a double victory aboard the Street Triple 765 RS at Assen (Quattro Group British Supersport), Oli Bayliss made his anticipated return to the World stage alongside Booth-Amos.
Friday saw a steady start to action with the pair focussing on their race pace in the morning’s sole practice session before upping the pace in Superpole. A strong lap from Bayliss secured the Australian an 11th place slot before a last lap charge from Booth-Amos put him on the third row in ninth.
Booth-Amos and teammate Bayliss got their opening race underway under sunny Italian skies and immediately locked horns as the pair battled in the lower end of the top 10. Emerging from the opening lap in seventh and eighth, the PTR Triumph Factory Racing duo had their sights on progress, but saw their charges brought to a halt after a red flag for track contamination was called on the third circulation.
Returning for the 13-lap restart, the duo were again thick in the action before an opening lap highside ruled Bayliss out of contention. With Booth-Amos the sole PTR Triumph remaining, the British rider expertly picked his way through the field to sit fifth and faced a 1.6s gap to overcome. Determined till the very end, he crossed the line to secure fifth in the opening race and would start the second race from pole thanks to his 1'31.822 in race one.
From pole, the number 69 rider settled into third position from the off and held his ground on the opening lap before passing Valentin Debise for second. Having cleared his rival, eyes were set on Albert Arenas ahead and thanks to a few new lap records, Booth-Amos had caught the Spanish rider by the 12th lap, passing the leader into turn 11 and emerging as the new race leader.
But the lead was short lived as just three laps later Arenas repaid the favour into turn 11 before a hard-charging Jeremy Alcoba muscled his way through, relegating Booth-Amos to third where he ultimately took the chequered flag.
Meanwhile, after suffering a race one fall, Bayliss returned to action and sought amends. Starting from 14th, the Australian had a tough start and slipped outside the points. Nevertheless, he persevered through a demanding 20-lap race and returned to the points by the midway stage. He eventually concluded today’s race in 13th.
The FIM Supersport World Championship heads to Estoril for the penultimate round of the season on 9-11 October with Booth-Amos lying fifth in the standings, 37 points shy of third.

“A very good weekend, I felt good in the race especially in the early parts I was very strong. Actually a little bit disappointed to finish third but that’s racing, just struggled with arm pump at the end but overall a good weekend. Thanks to everybody, thanks to the team now we look forward to the last two races and see what I can do then.”
Oli Bayliss:
“Obviously not really the weekend we wanted, the speed in race two from mid-race onwards was quite good but after the crash yesterday, getting knocked around a little bit in the first laps, kind of, I don’t want to say ended our race for us but it made it quite difficult and especially at a track like this where everyone’s so close it’s not easy to gain back the time that you have lost. We have got a good direction to go for in Estoril and hopefully we can make it count.”
