Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing’s Guillem Farres has claimed sixth overall at the MXGP of Czech Republic, with teammate Camden McLellan close behind in eighth. The TF 250-X mounted duo demonstrated impressive speed at the hardpack circuit of Loket, which marked round 14 of the current campaign, to come away with another set of top-10 finishes for the sixth consecutive time.

Race one in Loket began with Farres taking full advantage of his strong start to run up front in second. By the end of lap two, he had dropped to fourth but remained comfortable on the challenging circuit, pushing hard to the finish and setting himself up for a potential overall podium.

Farres enjoyed another impressive start in the second moto to sit fourth until mid-race. He lost one position to Kay de Wolf, then McLellan found a way by with a few laps to go. The Spaniard was then able to latch onto his teammate through to the finish to secure sixth in the race for sixth overall. Farres’ performance and points haul move him up to ninth in the series standings, with five rounds remaining.

McLellan had the speed but not the luck in Loket. Two crashes in race one led to a 13th-place finish, however, in the second race, he showed impressive speed on his way to placing fifth. On the day, McLellan finished eighth overall, and he remains seventh in the championship.

The next stop on the MX2 World Championship calendar takes Monster Energy Triumph to Lommel, Belgium. Taking place next weekend, the notoriously deep sand track marks the round 15 of the series.

Guillem Farres

“That’s the weekend done here in Loket. Saturday was tricky with the rain, and 10th in the qualifying race with a small crash was OK. Today, I had a great start in race one and ran fourth for the whole moto. I was really close to second and third at one point, but I just couldn’t find a way to make a pass. I had another good start in the second moto and held fourth for a while, then dropped to fifth. Near the end, Camden passed me and I ended up sixth for sixth overall. I’m getting closer and closer to the front guys so I’m excited for the upcoming races.”

Camden McLellan

“This weekend has been a little disappointing for me. My riding and speed were good, but I just made too many mistakes to challenge for the podium. It’s a shame how things went this weekend, but I know my speed is good, and I’m looking forward to Lommel next weekend.”

Vincent Bereni – Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager

“This weekend was challenging with the changing weather and track conditions. Both riders had the pace of the frontrunners all weekend. However, crashes in the qualifying race for both of them meant they didn’t have the best gate picks for the Grand Prix races. In the first race, Camden had a great start but fell twice and he could only get back to 13th. Guillem had a much better race though, running second for a while and then finishing fourth. The second race was good for both of them. They battled together for a lot of the race, but by the time Camden passed Guillem for fifth, the riders up front had gone. Overall, the results are not too bad, the bikes are good, and we know the riders have the pace to run up front. The next race in Lommel will be tough, because of the deep sand, but I know that both riders are capable of being on the podium.”
