Filip Salac added his name to the Triumph-powered Moto2™ winners list today, claiming his maiden victory at the iconic Silverstone circuit. The American Racing rider battled to victory over Ivan Ortola and first-time podium visitor Alex Escrig.

The Moto2 World Championship returned to action following its summer break this weekend with fresh faces stepping up to the podium. With British summer in full swing, with glorious conditions at the 3.66-mile track, it was Izan Guevara who conquered Saturday, securing pole position for Sunday’s 17 lap race; with Alonso Lopez and Ivan Ortola lining up alongside him.

Sunday’s Grand Prix was equally as hot both off and on the track. From pole, Guevara burst into the lead but was quickly shuffled back by a hard charging Ortola. From there, the race ignited into a six rider battle, with Arbolino, a resurging Manuel Gonzalez, who had dropped to seventh from fourth on the grid, Dani Holgado and Filip Salač.

As the battle continued, Arbolino continued his charge, pulling off brave passes in the podium fight before a crash at Vale ended his race. Meanwhile, KLINT Forward Racing’s Alex Escrig brought himself in contention, catching the back of the frantic group.

Back at the front, the British fans were treated to a scorching battle, with the lead changing every lap as Holgado battled it out with Guevara and Ortola. As the race entered its closing stages, the hard-charging Gonzalez who was extracting everything from his Street Triple 765 RS engine muscled his way into the podium places and quickly maneuvered his way to the lead on the penultimate lap.

But disaster struck for the Spanish rider as a miscalculation left him celebrating victory before the chequered flag fell. Contact with Holgado behind left the Intact GP rider with damage, unable to fight for victory on the final tour of the Silverstone venue.

Following the collision, Salač emerged at the head of the field with Ortola and Escrig close behind. The two-time victor in 2026 looked every which way for a route passed, but the 22-year-old couldn’t topple Salač who crossed the line to take his first victory in the Moto2 class.

Ortola took the chequered flag in second with Escrig securing his maiden podium aboard his Street Triple 765 RS-powered machine. Holgado secured fourth place with Guevara rounding out the top five. Lopez, Dani Muñoz, Deniz Öncü, Barry Baltus and Sergio Garcia rounded out the top ten.

The Moto2™ World Championship returns to Aragón next time out as the 13th round of the season commences across the 28-30 August weekend.
