Triumph Factory Racing & Fuchs Silkolene Take on The Moto Worlds

The partnership between Triumph Factory Racing and FUCHS Silkolene is one that was born from a shared passion to reach the pinnacle of sport. It's a technical alignment that ensures race efforts in both the FIM Motocross World Championship and SuperMotocross World Championship can utilise the best lubricant technologies, something that has proven to be advantageous across competition since Triumph made its racing debut in off-road last season.
It's almost a 'fit' that's too perfect to be true: The two brands are built on an incredible amount of heritage and are based mere minutes from each other in the United Kingdom. Silkolene was born in 1908, initially orientated around veterinary products and later developing lubricants for farmer's machinery. As the internal combustion engine began to replace horse and carts, Silkolene started to produce engine oil. The incredible amount of knowledge that FUCHS Silkolene has been built upon means it is well positioned to offer immense value to factory riders and weekend racers alike – a quality that Triumph has also achieved with the TF 250-X in both its first 'active' season, and so far in 2025.
Such history offers FUCHS Silkolene a chance to pivot and adapt to movement in the industry. There have been countless examples of such exquisite awareness – innovative additions like XP Technology and more sustainable packaging are recent items that underline the brand's position. "We continuously strive to offer the very best products to our customers," said Joost van Genderen at FUCHS Silkolene. "We have been a prominent brand in the UK for many, many years and there has been no point where we have considered compromising on our offering.
"When Silkolene exploded in the 1960s, it was in the motocross world. We were partners with many factory teams and won countless championships. When the road and street markets grew, attention diverted to that. We have again been looking at developing the off-road segment further and when the opportunity to work with Triumph came along, we grabbed it with both hands. It is a superb and thrilling partnership."
The FUCHS Silkolene logo is evident on the Triumph Factory Racing off-road machines across the world. It shined brightly when Jalek Swoll climbed onto the AMA Pro Motocross podium at Unadilla in August, as it did in Argentina and Sardegna when Mikkel Haarup and Camden McLellan nabbed silverware in Grands Prix. More recently the British manufacturers have celebrated a runner-up placing in the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship with Jonny Walker, Triumph’s first victory in AMA Supercross with Jordon Smith, a first MX2 World Championship moto win with McLellan, and success in EnduroGP with Jamie McCanney and Mikael Persson aboard the TF 250-E. It is a relationship that benefits all parties. Triumph Factory Racing make use of the best possible lubricants and the endless research that comes with that, but then the data acquired is put into the same products that the 'normal' riders use on a day-to-day basis.
The data is fed into the FUCHS Group's brilliant network of laboratories: the brand boasts more than 400 specialists and 40 laboratories worldwide. The labs within the UK feature state-of-the-art equipment that opens the door to endless possibilities, a fact that underlines their position as market leaders. "It is simply astonishing to consider all that FUCHS Silkolene are able to do – the commitment that they show to being best in class is inspiring," stated Triumph's Head of Global Racing Programmes, Ian Kimber. "There are no limits to what is possible. There was so much excitement from our side to join forces."
"The FUCHS Silkolene brand has come from technology that has been fed from elite race teams," Van Genderen added. "We request engine oil samples after each event and follow a set format to ensure samples provide the desired information. There's a positive development roadmap here – we run based on facts and are 100% dedicated to the motorcycle lubricant market. We have always sold through the motorcycle trade. We do not sell in supermarkets or petrol stations – being dedicated is a crucial part of our foundation."
This ethos radiates across all that FUCHS Silkolene do. The innovative technology, like the XP Technology that equals 18% lower oil consumption and a power boost of three percent, or their trail-blazing concept to use esters are constant reminders of their innovation and elevations in the space. The push is relentless, as recent additions to their packaging have resulted in using a lot less single-use plastic across the recent decade. 1.7 million kilograms, to be exact. All of this effort contributes to one goal: Giving consumers that genuine "oil tune" after using a product from the FUCHS Silkolene line-up.
"The Triumph project is our priority currently and rightfully so," concluded Van Genderen. "So much happiness and motivation comes from seeing the TF 250-X on the podium at the highest level. It is my passion to develop the two-wheel market in a more collaborative and concise way than before – success with Triumph Factory Racing is the perfect way to do that. The brand is only going to get bigger and bigger."
