Guillem Farres Battles to 10th at Portuguese Grand Prix

Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing’s Guillem Farres has placed 10th overall at round seven of the 2025 MX2 World Championship in Portugal. The Spaniard overcame crashes in both races to secure his 12-8 result, while teammate Camden McLellan endured a similar day on his way to placing 14th overall.
Two weeks on from the team’s strong showing in Switzerland, both Farres and McLellan were fired up to run at the sharp end of the field in Agueda, Portugal. In Saturday’s MX2 Qualifying Race, Camden placed sixth, with Farres close behind in seventh, ensuring they could benefit from favourable gate picks for both of Sunday’s Grand Prix races.
Heavy rain delayed the start of Sunday’s racing programme, but when the gate finally dropped for race one, Farres was quick off the line. However, as he entered the second turn, he lost control of his machine and fell. From near enough last, he worked his way forward to 10th, before a crash on the final lap dropped him to 12th at the finish.
Farres took advantage of another strong start in the second moto and ran fourth for much of the race. As the laps wound down, the Spaniard made a few small mistakes and lost four positions. Crossing the finish line in eighth secured 10th overall for Guillem, who remains 16th in the series standings.
McLellan capitalised on his strong start in race one to run fourth early on, until a racing incident with a rival caused him to fall. He then fell again a lap later and was outside the top 20. With track conditions deteriorating because of the rain, Camden could only reach 16th at the finish.
In race two, McLellan started 11th and dropped to 12th after a small crash. With the track becoming one-lined, it was difficult to make passes, and Camden crossed the line in 12th for 14th overall. He now lies seventh in the championship.
Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing now heads to the MXGP of Spain next weekend, which marks a home race for Guillem and the eighth round of the 2025 MX2 World Championship.
Guillem Farres
“That’s the weekend here in Portugal done. It’s a shame about the rain because on Saturday morning the track was really good. I had a good qualifying race with seventh and felt great on the track. My start in race one was decent but I crashed in the second corner. I stopped for goggles and it was a gnarly race overall. I was running 10th until the last lap when I crashed again and finished 12th. My start in the second race was also really good, but I just didn’t ride very well. I crashed twice and ended up eighth. Next weekend it’s my home GP so I’m focused on riding like I know I can and hopefully we get good weather too.”
Camden McLellan
“It was a super tough weekend. I was a little bit off with my feeling on this track and then it rained a lot, so that made things tougher. I had a good race going in the first moto until I got taken out, and then in the second one I had a bad start and crashed on my own. So, it’s been one of those mud races to forget and now it’s onto Lugo next weekend.”
Vincent Bereni – Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager
“Round seven is done and it wasn’t the weekend we were hoping for, but this is how mud races go sometimes. The qualifying race results were good, but then for the Grand Prix races, a big storm really changed the track a lot. We have plenty of positives to take away from here. Both riders are healthy, and the team learned a lot about the bike while competing in the mud, which we can utilise for future mud races.”
