FIM SuperEnduro World Championship

Triumph Motorcycles is ready for its second season in enduro having made its historic step into the scene last year in both the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship and the FIM EnduroGP World Championship. The Triumph Factory Racing team is led by the ultra-experienced Paul Edmondson, a four-time former World Champion, along with rider coach Jamie McCanney, who has recently retired from international competition.

The FIM SuperEnduro World Championship is an indoor series that has been running for nearly 20 years. It is held in packed-out arenas where racers compete over extreme obstacles such as rocks and logs in this hugely popular winter series. It features a gate-drop start and short, but very intense races. Jonny Walker has enjoyed much success in the seven-round series, concluding Triumph’s first season with the TF 250-E with seven podiums from seven races, including a victory at the fifth round in Hungary. In the US, a series with a similar format takes place called EnduroCross; Walker took Triumph’s first Championship, which went down to the wire, in 2025, before returning to Europe to focus on the World Championship. The Cumbrian racer, who has won some of the biggest hard enduro events on the planet such as the Red Bull ErzbergRodeo Hare Scramble (an event he impressively finished sixth in on Triumph machinery last year against predominantly two-stroke competition) and Red Bull Romaniacs, joined the Triumph Factory Racing team at the end of 2024 and has varied events planned for 2026.

The Triumph Factory Racing team is led by Paul Edmondson, a former British racer who has four Enduro World Championships to his name as a rider including a record breaking 18 gold medals at the ISDE, at which he represented Great Britain multiple times. Edmondson is a well-known figure in off-road, having achieved vast success with his former EnduroGP race team Fast Eddy Racing, which he set-up and managed, as well as his running of a number of hugely popular Enduro events in the UK.

Paul has been involved in the off-road project with Triumph since the beginning, providing essential input to the development of the platform of the TF 250-X and TF 250-E machines. The likable and very motivated enduro expert also rode Triumph Motorcycles as 007’s stunt double in the James Bond Film, No Time To Die and is now Team Manager of the Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team, partnering the British Manufacturer as it embarks on a new journey in enduro racing.

In the SuperEnduro series British racer Jonny Walker enjoyed a strong first season in ‘25 aboard Triumph machinery, taking an impressive second overall with seven podium finishes from seven events, including a first World Championship race victory for the TF 250-X. Walker backed this up by winning Triumph’s first AMA EnduroCross Championship aboard the TF 450-X, the bike he has debuted in the 2026 FIM SuperEnduro series this season. Walker enjoyed a number of strong additional outings, including an incredible sixth place finish at the world-renowned Red Bull ErzbergRodeo, which is predominantly dominated by two-stroke machines and a notoriously tough race to conquer.

Switching to the outdoor discipline of EnduroGP, Mikael Persson and Jamie McCanney raced for the team in 2025 earning numerous E1 podiums and winning the British Enduro and British Sprint Championships. For 2026, McCanney will continue contesting the British series, but move into a rider coach role for Persson and new-signing, Jeremy Sydow for international competition.

Also to note, Triumph also contributed to ISDE success with Persson helping Team Sweden to a first podium in a decade, and Morgan Lesiardo, who races for the Triumph Italia Racing team, helping Team Italy to victory. Lesiardo also enjoyed notable results on Triumph machinery with an E1 class win and first EnduroGP podium with his TF 250-E.

Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team – a deeper dive

A closer look at Triumph’s Enduro programme notes that its riders will compete in three different types of disciplines throughout the season. British racer Jonny Walker will contest the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, select rounds of AMA EnduroCross, as well as a select number of events throughout the summer, and perhaps a number of Hard Enduro races. Teammates Mikael Persson and Jeremy Sydow will focus on the more traditional FIM EnduroGP World Championship. Jamie McCanney will race in the British Enduro Championship.

The FIM EnduroGP World Championship is the more ‘traditional’ of Enduro disciplines featuring a number of tests across the race weekends. The enduro test, motocross test, and extreme tests feature in all race events, with a crowd-pleasing super test taking place, usually on the Friday night. The Enduro series dates back to 1968, and today has three categories – Enduro1 (up-to 250cc 2-stroke and 4-stroke), Enduro2 (255cc – 450cc 4-stroke) and Enduro3 (255cc 2-stroke and 450cc 4-stroke) as well as the overall EnduroGP standings, which is awarded to the highest point scorer of all three categories. Triumph’s rider Mikael Persson, who stays with the squad for a second season, has previously battled for Championship victories, and brings a wealth of experience to the Triumph Factory Racing team. In 2026 Persson will be joined by German racer Jeremy Sydow, who is hungry for results in the series, and both racers will be mentored by Jamie McCanney. The team will contest the E1 & EnduroGP class for 2026.
