The legendary character of the Thruxton comes to life through the 1200cc high power, 8-valve, parallel twin engine. The smoothness of the Thruxton ride is underpinned by the reassurance of ABS, traction control, a torque-assist clutch and three riding modes, while the dedicated chassis and suspension are honed for real sporting agility with clip-on bars, fully adjustable suspension and a 17-inch front wheel all engineered for Triumph’s signature riding dynamic. The result? Outstanding agility for an engaged and thrilling ride.

The ‘low inertia – high performance’ six-speed engine features a crank and airbox that are unique to the Thruxton and Thruxton R.  With the pinpoint accuracy and instant throttle response of Triumph’s next generation ride-by-wire fuel-injection, fed by authentic twin throttle bodies, the Thruxton spec Bonneville engine delivers a massive peak torque figure of 112Nm at a low 4,950rpm – an amazing 62% more than the previous generation. With a high power output of 97PS at 6,750rpm, 41% up on the previous model’s engine, the new 1200cc Thruxton delivers much more power lower down and across the whole rev range, with an incredible 68% more power at 4,500rpm.

Beautifully styled with a very high level of finish and detailing, the Thruxton’s high power 1200cc engine incorporates visual cues from the classic Thruxton Bonneville engine whilst integrating contemporary components to maintain that authentic look.  The upswept reverse megaphone exhausts are designed to deliver the thrilling sound of a British racing twin, with a rich and raw note to match this extraordinary motorbike’s legendary name.

Behind the 1200cc Thruxton spec engine’s exterior is an advanced liquid cooling system sensitively designed to minimise its visual impact whilst achieving cleaner emissions and enhancing fuel efficiency – 11% better than the previous generation. Combined with a new extended service interval of 10,000 miles (16,000km), this contributes to a reduced overall cost of ownership.

Building on the capability of the Thruxton, the Thruxton R takes the ride specification to a new level with arguably the most thrilling and full-blooded sports classic motorcycle you can buy. With a more focused riding position due to a kicked-up back end and smaller diameter grips, this premium spec motorbike has twin floating Brembo monobloc calipers, Brembo master cylinder, race-bred adjustable Showa big piston forks, fully adjustable Öhlins twin rear shocks and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres.  With the addition of its dedicated Thruxton chassis, this is a pure Triumph ride with the perfect balance of agility and stability.
