Richards secures Championship on 675R

 Congratulations must go to Glen Richards (Smiths Triumph) who secured the 2012 British Supersport Championship at Brands Hatch in a thrilling finale to the season.

After Saturday’s 10 lap sprint race Richards was leading the Championship with only 8.5 points separating him from second place Jack Kennedy heading into the final race of the season.

During the longer feature race Richards missed a gear and crashed out effectively handing the Championship to rival Kennedy at Hawthorn. However, Kennedy suffered more reliability problems and returned to the pits on lap 8 of 18 ultimately retiring and handing back the Championship to Triumph rider Richards.

Richards has already confirmed his commitment to Smiths Racing and Triumph, and will join the Triumph Factory team for 2013 riding for Smiths Triumph.
