Adventure Rider Training
If you’ve ever thought about the excitement of off-road riding, but don’t have either a suitable bike or the level of skill to keep going when the road ends, then Triumph Adventure Rider Training is a great place to start!
The training, which is provided by expedition specialists Trailquest, is based on over 1,000 acres of private country estate in the Malvern Hills, Worcestershire, and is perfectly structured for all levels of ability providing a fluid transition for all to proficiency.
We use the superb Tiger 800XC which is a light, well balanced and accessible machine suitable for shorter riders. The exceptionally well built 800XC is strong and more than capable of handling demanding terrain – it’s ability to manage rough treatment also means the occasional drop doesn’t require superhuman effort to pick up putting you back on the trail in no time.
We deliberately keep the groups small with a maximum of 3 riders per instructor which allows the highest level of personal attention and guidance. We’ll also go out our to make every session fun giving you an experience to remember.
The available courses are:
Introduction to Adventure Riding – (1 day / £220 per person including loan bike)
This course provides an introduction to off road riding for those with little or no previous experience. Tuition will cover essential basic skills and a guided ride on suitable trails on the Bromesberrow estate near Malvern. Trails are wide, relatively flat and with grass, hard core or gravel surfaces. These have gentle slopes and sweeping curves that are easy to negotiate on all size of bike and suitable for novice riders in wet or dry conditions.
Off-Road Adventure Experience – (1day / £240 per person including loan bike)
Aimed at those who have completed the introductory level or who have previous experience. Located at Leominster it includes advanced tuition on a variety of surfaces, including ascents and descents. The trails also include tighter corners and narrower sections through a more wooded landscape. Some wet and muddy patches can be expected depending on time of year and recent weather.
Advanced Off-Road Experience – (2 days / £460 per person including loan bike)
For those with a good level of experience who want to improve their technique on challenging terrain. Trails incorporate rock strewn surfaces and heavily rutted sections with some very steep hills and tight corners. Deep water and mud is encountered in parts and in some places the trails are very narrow. Several require careful navigation to follow. At some times of the year, and after very dry condition, trails across very soft soil/sand available.
Adventure Weekends (Minimum Group Size 4) - £150 per person - March - October
Try a taster session of our courses plus lectures, overnight camp and ride out. Suitable for those with no previous experience, the emphasis is on fun rather than serious tuition. A great idea for a different weekend away with a few of your bike riding pals.
Expedition Planning and Preparation – (1-3 days / £180 per person, per day)
A bespoke course designed to help those planning their own expeditions. Courses include advise on choice of motorcycle, kit you may require and equipment. We also cover navigation, First Aid, documentation and personal security. Off-road rider training can also be included if requested.
Using Your bike… or ours?
The Triumph bikes available for the above courses are Tiger 800XCs. We do not currently operate any Tiger Explorer (1200cc) but can run courses for owners who are prepared to use their own bike. Those opting to use a Tiger 800XC loan bike are required to provide a refundable £150 deposit to cover any damage to bikes.
